Beer of the Week, Sierra Nevada Hoptimum

Hoptimum pours a dark amber color with a decent sized white head. The aroma has hints of roasted malts, citrus and heavy on the pine. The taste follows suit, it has a good amount of bitterness to it which is expected with 100 IBUs. The German Magnum hops really come through in this flavor profile but it is balanced out with a caramel sweetness from the malt. It does not have a strong alcohol flavor which is surprising for a beer that boasts a 10.4% ABV. Overall this is a great imperial IPA, but is not to be taken lightly. I would go for this one if you are a big IPA fan. It’s usually sold in 4 packs and has a rotating availability so if you see it make sure you pick it up. I give Hoptimum 9.4 pints out of 10, this shit will get you drunk so drink up!
