Beer review: Avery Brewing, The Maharaja

This imperial IPA boasts an ABV of 10.20% with 102 IBUs. Maharaja pours a copper orange color with a small off white head. The aroma is fruity. I get hints of citrus and maybe some apricot or melon. There is some piney hoppiness in there but that is overpowered by the malt and fruit scents. The beer tastes very malty for an IPA, I get a slight amount of hoppiness but it is overpowered by the citrus and fruit flavors. It is a sweet beer but not overly so. There is a very light carbonation, you almost don’t even notice the bubbles. Over all this is a solid imperial IPA, I give it 9.1 pints out of 10.
