Let me start by saying fuck these things, I don’t know if it’s the amount of legs they have or what. These things are the monsters from my worst nightmares, and some people keep them as pets. That’s a big NOPE for me.  I’m not letting this centipede anywhere near me. The Scolopendra subspinipes is a quick little fucker for its size. It is nervous around larger animals and can be aggressive when threatened. Make sure that you do not stick your hand anywhere near it. They are known to have a very painful bite that causes a lot of swelling and they are aggressive.

Just looking at one of these gives me the chills, they can grow anywhere from 4 to 8 inches long! Their venom is usually not lethal to humans but there have been known cases where children have died from a bite. The Giant Vietnamese Centipede has a diet that consists of small mammals, lizards and insects. I’ve actually seen them kill snakes, yeah thats right, a fucking snake (see below). I think that should be enough of a warning sign right there. When you see an arthropod take down a snake that is your warning to get the hell out of there.

The bite has been described to be extremely painful and last up to 2-3 days. On average it lasts around a day and causes severe redness and irritation around the bite area. The swelling can last for up to a week after the bite from this vicious fucker. The venom also causes necrosis of tissue, this could require medication to help reduce the necrosis and swelling. People have also reported their skin turning black for multiple days due to death of living cells. The point I’m trying to get across here is burn every inch of land that these monsters live on and make sure that not a single one gets out alive. I have a fear of spiders but nothing makes my skin crawl like seeing one of these scampering around.
