Kirk Cousins (5900)
Cousins has not looked like the quarterback who was asking the media if they liked that in 2015, but if you remember, his great run did not start until week 7 of last year. To top that off, he has a great matchup this week against the Lions who are allowing the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this year at 26.7 points per game. Last week against the Eagles Cousins had several great throws that indicate he is poised for a big game. Even if Reed is out again this week, it shouldn’t impact Cousins as he has shown he has good timing with Vernon Davis, and is more likely to spread the ball out without Reed.
Marcus Mariota (6000)
Mariota has blown up over the past 2 games with 7 total touchdowns, 124 yards rushing and another 447 yards through the air. To make things better for Mariota fans he gets to face the porous Colts defense this week. You know the one who allowed Brock Osweiler to look like an actual professional athlete. Not only have the Colts let up big points through the air, 20.1 points per game to quarterbacks but they have had trouble with stopping anything on the ground. They are the 2nd worst team against running backs in fantasy, Mariota should have a massive game with his arm and legs. Look for over 300 total yards and at least 2 more TDs to add to his impressive streak.
Tyrod Taylor (5500)
T Mobile has been getting things done on the ground over the past few weeks. Since his horrible week 1, Taylor has averaged 19.5 points per game. That would put him as the 7th best fantasy football quarterback so far this season. This week he is facing the Miami Dolphins that have allowed huge games to the likes of Jimmy Garoppolo and Marcus Mariota. This should be a big week for T Mobile at a bargain for Daily Fantasy players.
James White (4600)
Blount was the bell cow back for the Patriots through the first 3 weeks, and one of the best running backs in the league over that time. Since Brady has returned Blount’s roll on the team has cooled and White has been picking it up. Over the 2 games that Brady has played with White he has 3 touchdowns and has 12 catches on his 15 targets for 110 yards combined. The Steelers have not been great against the run allowing 23.4 points per game on average to opposing running backs. They are also coming off a game in which they allowed over 200 yards to a single running back in Jay Ajayi. This should be another big game for their young running back.
Jaquizz Rodgers (4300)
So Doug Martin might be back this week, but he has not been practicing this week and still looks like he will be limited in this week’s game against the 49ers. The 49ers have been getting destroyed on the ground this year, and things have just gotten worse since Bowman has been ruled out for the season with another injury. The Niners have let up 130 yards rushing or more in every game but one so far this year. With Martin’s status still questionable Rodgers could be in store for a big week.
Duke Johnson Jr (3900)
Crowell has been the big man in Cleveland for much of the year and has been a solid running back, while Johnson has been the 3rd down back. If this sounds familiar to you, then you read the description on White 5 seconds ago. Last week the Pats faced the very Bengals defense that the Browns will go up against this weekend and it was not Blount that had the big game. It was White the receiving back that was able to get into the endzone twice and record 8 receptions. Johnson has been no slouch this year either, putting up 17 points last week and averaging just over 10 on the season. Look for Johnson to have his breakout performance this week against his division rival.
Michael Thomas (4600)
Thomas has been sneaky good this year, averaging just under 15 points per game in daily fantasy and reaching the endzone in each of his last 3 games. This week he goes up against a Kansas City defense that has been a shell of itself from last year. While they do have one of the best CBs in the game, Peters will be focused mainly on stopping Cooks who is the Saints number one wide out. This leaves a lot of targets and a big game for the big man, he should go for over 100 and a touchdown.
Jamison Crowder (4300)
Crowder is turning himself into a fan favorite in Washington, making big plays like returning punts for touchdowns or just turning short passes into big plays. This week he faces the worst ranked pass defense in football, you know the one I was talking about with Cousins. Turns out they’re not so great against wideouts either, who would’ve thunk it. While Crowder has not recorded more than 6 catches or 80 yards in any game, he should be able to put together a nice fantasy performance against the subpar Lions secondary.
Torrey Smith (3800)
Smith was completely irrelevant when Gabbert was under center, only putting up one mediocre performance against the Carolina Panthers. What happens when Kaepernick starts? Smith goes for 70 + yards and a touchdown on 3 receptions against a solid Bills defense. This week he gets an easier matchup against the Tampa Bay Bucs that have been allowing an average of 27.2 points to opposing wide receivers so far this season.
Hunter Henry (3600)
It seems like there is a passing of the torch going on in San Diego right now at the TE position. Even with Gates back in action, Henry has been the one racking up all the yards over the past 2 weeks. He has gone for more than 60 yards in each of his last 4 games and has 3 TDs during that span. This week he faces a soft Saints defense that has allowed the 4th most points in terms of fantasy production to opposing TEs. Henry should be a solid play any week but this could be his biggest to date.
Vernon Davis (2900)
Davis showed that he could fill in for Reed without any issue, putting up 50 yards and a touchdown in his one start this year. The Lions defense is just as bad against TEs as they are against WRs, allowing at least 1 touchdown in all but one game this year. With Reed unlikely to play in week 7 Davis should step up for another big day along with the rest of his teammates.
Patriots defense (2900)
So what would have been a great showdown between two of the greatest quarterbacks to play in my lifetime turns into Landry against Brady. So the Steelers still have the weapons with Bell and Brown, but historically Brown has been mediocre without Big Ben under center and that leaves Belichick to focus on Bell. We all know what happens when Billy B focuses on something, he stops it and his game plan works flawlessly. That’s what is going to happen this week, they will force Landry to throw a lot and Landry will do so, right into Butler and Ryan’s hands.
Ravens defense (2900)
It’s clear to everyone who knows anything about the NFL, the Jets are struggling on offense. With the most turnovers in the league so far they have been a defense streaming fantasy player’s dream. They have thrown 12 interceptions, lost 3 fumbles and let up 3 defensive touchdowns in their first 6 games, so just start the Ravens ok.
